WHAT IS SOI?
Opera Modesto’s Summer Opera Institute (SOI) for teens is a conservatory level training program for youth artists graduating from the 8th to 12th grades (with some flexibility – contact Opera Modesto to inquire about exceptions). The program consists of workshops designed to enhance self-confidence, leadership and performing skills. Classes include specialized vocal training, language pronunciation, performance skills, International Phonetic Alphabet, dance, drama, workshops by international guest artists, and much more. The SOI concludes with a concert of staged operatic excerpts in four languages.
