Opera Modesto’s Summer Opera Institute (SOI) for teens is a conservatory level training program for youth artists graduating from the 8th to 12th grades. The program consists of workshops designed to enhance self-confidence, leadership and performing skills. Classes include specialized vocal training, language pronunciation, performance skills, International Phonetic Alphabet, dance, drama, workshops by international guest artists, and much more. The SOI concludes with a concert of staged operatic excerpts in a variety of languages.

HOW LONG IS THE PROGRAM?

The two week intensive is expected to take place mostly in the Modesto Junior College Music Department building from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM: July 22-26 (M-F) and July 29-August 2 (M-F). The 2 week intensive will be preceded by several weeks of individual and group voice, music and language pronunciation training. Details/dates TBA.

IS THERE A PERFORMANCE?

The Summer Opera Institute holds a free public performance at the end of the program. This year it is tentatively being held at CSU Stanislaus, Snider Recital Hall on August 2nd at 7:00pm!
